Our commitment
Legal information should be reachable by everyone who needs it. This website is built to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA, and we take account of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and the guidelines for Indian government websites in how we approach it.
What has been done
- Semantic HTML with landmarks and a logical heading order on every page
- Every interactive element reachable and operable by keyboard, with a visible focus ring
- A skip link to the main content as the first item in the tab order
- Text and interface colours tested against the contrast requirements of Level AA
- Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images, and decorative media hidden from assistive technology
- Form fields with associated labels, hints tied by aria-describedby, and errors announced on submission
- Motion reduced automatically when the operating system requests it
- Layout that reflows to 320 pixels wide and supports text zoom to 200 percent without loss of content
Known limitations
We test with keyboard navigation and screen readers, but some areas are harder than others.
- Background video in the hero section is decorative and carries no captions. It is paused automatically when reduced motion is requested and conveys no information not stated in text.
- Some downloadable documents supplied by third parties may not be fully tagged for screen readers. Write to us and we will provide an accessible version.
